Sorting order for products

Having received brilliant assistance from Marius earlier today, I can’t resist submitting another query that has been bugging me for quite some time.

What I want to do is sort the position of individual products in the two column display on the Home page. I did go into the advanced settings for some products and changed the sort order but nothing happened. I went into the “All Products” page and dragged one or two further up but nothing happened on the Home page.

Hopefully it’s not too difficult to do but finding the solution has been beyond my investigative powers.

Any help would be much appreciated.
