I’d like to have a primary menu that appears on every page, and then for each page to have it’s own menu that only references rows within that page.
Is this possible with Sydney?

(Sorry if this has been discussed in previous threads – I’m sure there is a term that describes this, but I can’t figure out what it is. And the plugins I’ve tried that give page specific menus don’t seem to allow a common menu on all pages.)

Hello there,

Sydney only has one location of top main menu.

Have you tried this plugin?

I’ve tried it now (thanks), but unfortunately it seems to do the same as the other plugins that I’ve tried. ie It replaces the primary menu with a page specific menu rather than adding a second menu.

Hello there,

I think you should do it with some coding works as there’s no plugin meets your need. To retain the new code after theme update, you must use a child theme. We have a starter child theme for Sydney available for download here in this link.

To define new menu, use register_nav_menus() function. To display in the header area, use wp_nav_menu() function and put it in the header.php file in the appropriate line. To restrict its visibility on certain page, use is_page() conditional tag.
