Test message works, notification messages do not

    Hello, I am running WP 4.9.1 with the Suits theme via Hostgator shared hosting and was directed to this plugin due to notifications not working from my site. I have mail hosted elsewhere and needed to set up SMTP separately <-> the plugin

    I installed and configured it very easily and Test messages come through just fine. Comment notifications (which are enabled) do not get through though. I tried a couple of test comments and did not get an email. I tried both the Send with SMTP and Send with PHP options.

    Is this a plugin configuration issue or do I need to modify the site’s code?

    Can you please upgrade to 1.0.2 and try to send a test email? If it fails, please post here the debug output that you will see.

    But the main rule of thumb would be to triple check the SMTP settings that you saved in a plugin. You might want to contact Hostgator for SMTP details for your mail provider.
