    Hello,

    I’m migrating my current site to WordPress. My site has a custom CMS I developed over 7 years ago. I have all my content on MySQL.

    I want to create a RSS feed to import all my content to WordPress. However, is there an example of an RSS feed with all the fields (and its mappings w/ WordPress) in order to import the most fields I can correctly to WordPress?

    Also, I noticed with a test I did of one of my forum vBulletin RSS feed, that special characters (like spanish characters ie: éóáñ, etc) break the import… for example, a item title was “Hoy más pruebas”, WordPress only imported “Hoy m”. Any idea on how to workaround this?

    I found a better way… I did an test export of WordPress format (WXR). Analyzed the structure of the file, and will create the export from my site DB in that format, and it should work fine if I import it as a WordPress WXR file.

    I was doing some importing myself, and the problem happens when the file is in ISO-8859-1 format. I saved the file again with UTF-8 encoding, and the import happened smoothly.
    I didn’t go too deep, but as far as my debugging have gone, it seems that the problem is after get_posts() function in import/rss.php.
    $post_content had the right value ’till after cleaning up the content.
    I don’t know if this helps, but I hope it does.
