htaccess can’t be found!

I’m trying to set it up so that my blog comes up with me.com instead of me.com/wordpress. I’m following the instructions (http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory) and I have copied index.php to the root directory but can’t find the .htaccess file to do the same with.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!
