Additional tags being added

Getting a problem after upgrade to wordpress version 4.9 – if you go to edit a page, post or product page it immediately adds in a field for another hreflang tag which gets rendered in the html source if you save. You have to go down and delete it before saving. There is also the business of tag pages too from a previous post – they are not being excluded completely or able to be set (i.e. no admin option for those).
