• Hello,
my question may sound weird, but i have no experience in web development and recently made a website with WordPress.
I changed the Content area from 1100px to 1600px.
The reason for that is, i need that space to show code snippets with Crayon with as minimal vertical scrolling as possible.

The wide Layout brings some problems with it and right now i am fixing them one by one. Like the need of featured images with a big width. I just want to know if a wide Layout is considered acceptable or if that is bad practice for any reason? Does it bring any future problems? I just want to make sure that i dont put effort in fixing a Layout that is not bearable.

    Thanks for your help,
    Florian

A wide layout is not bad practice. What you’re experiencing is problems when changing the design of an already finished theme.

There are UX problems with the readability of long text, but I don’t think you’re talking about that.

Thanks for your answer! Maybe you can take quick look at the site and tell me if its ok. I didnt really find any site that has such a wide content area. Not amazon, facebook, youtube or any other site i checked. They are all in a pretty narrow box.
