get_the_excerpt() returning related posts content

    I’ve got a Twitter Card generator that uses get_the_excerpt() to populate <meta name=”twitter:description”>. Whenever I turn on this plugin or any like it, the related content HTML is returned by get_the_excerpt() instead of the real excerpt. Any ideas?
