next/previous on product page

I understand thy theme may be blocking this, but I need to understand if under ‘normal’ conditions, when there are additional photos for a single product, does the lightbox offer the next and previous buttons to cycle through all of the images for that product?

I really need to add these buttons, is it possible?

I see that there are buttons that are being hidden by styling, so my next stop if the theme developer, but first I want to understand if that is the expected behavior, to be able to cycle through the additional product images.
