Custom registration form fields and edit profile

I’ve edited the default registration form and included 2 additional fields – Postcode and Profile image.
The postcode field – I’d like this to be editable through the Account page. So, on the general tab, I’d like a new field below the email address field, that allows the user to edit the postcode associated with the account. How could this be achieved?
The profile image – I’d like this to be hooked up to the WordPress user profile image. I found this post – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/registration-form-customization-upload-profile-image – which outlines a function to hook this custom image field to the WordPress user profile image, however after adding the code to my functions field and creating a new account, the image wasn’t carried over.
Any help on the two points above would be greatly appreciated.
