    Hi,

I’ve recently switched to a retina display, and I’ve noticed that some of the images on my site are blurry. I’ve managed to update most of them, but I’m having trouble with the thumbnails in the Nextgen gallery, which seem to look blurry/pixelated no matter what I do.

Any suggestions, please? Or is this just a problem with Nextgen and retina, and you have to pay for retina support?

    Thank you,

    Gareth.

@woodpig – Our “retina” support is triggered by the auto-resize option under Gallery > Other Options > Image Options and requires it to be on when the images are uploaded.

You should see new upload be more retina friendly with the auto-resize option set to Yes although we do not have a method to “correct” any existing images on the site specifically.

    Thanks!

Hi Cais, thanks for your reply.

So, if I re-upload the images, with that option turned on, then the thumbnails will not be pixelated?

The actual images as they appear in the lightbox are fine. It’s only the thumbnails are the problem.

Do the resize options affect the lightbox images or the thumbnails?

@woodpig – You will have to re-upload the images for the thumbnails to be regenerated and replace the existing images (essentially replace the galleries in whole). This should improve the rendered quality although there are still some external factors that may be affecting the quality all the same such as size and any other code that affects images from another active plugin or your current theme.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
