site went down – parse error

I was away on business in NYC for a week. When I left, my site was working fine. Yesterday I checked the site and found it down, showing this when you go to http://touchedbymadness.net:

“Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/content/s/l/w/slwillets/html/wp-load.php on line 46”

I get the same screen when I try to log into my admin account.

I haven’t made any changes to the site and haven’t played around with the code, so I have no idea what happened or how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
