Manually updating subscriptions

I am having issues manually updating subscriptions for paymenets outside of the system. It shows a particular member with the status of “Pending (activate on next payment)” and when I change to “Active” and save it, the membership status goes back to “Pending (activate on next payment)” and will not update the membership and they are unable to log into the protected area of the site.
I found the same issue here: https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/membership-2-pro-manual-update-subscription-status-problem but the “solution” there did not work for me. I deleted the user and added them again as a new user and have the same troubles.
Also, this user is listed as expired, but the expiration date is a year away, so I am so confused.

I am having the same problem and the proposed fix at https://wordpress.org/support/topic/mailchimp-integration-add-on-breaks-membership-interface/ didn’t work, unfortunately. I’ve already tried deleting and re-adding members, but this did not fix the problem. I used to be able to manually add subscriptions to members and set their status to “Active”, but now membership 2 keeps resetting the status to “Pending” every time I save it on “Active”, rendering my membership site useless since I can’t give anyone access. Please let me know what to try next. Thank you! I really appreciate your attention to this!
