Backup administrative user?

    Hi there, I have the latest version of UpdraftPlus Backup/Restor, and just noticed there is a new administrative user called ‘backup’ within my users list. Is this associated with this backup program?

    I tried to search for this, but didn’t find it. Sorry if I’m a little paranoid. I keep having people trying to reset passwords, so I want to make sure this is legit.

    Hi,

    That’s got nothing to do with UpdraftPlus, which does not create any users, and based on what you’ve said, I would be concerned. It sounds like there’s a good chance that a hacker has got in and created a user that he hopes you won’t spot and will think that it must be something to do with an installed component. But I can’t think of any reason for any legitimate plugin to do that – in WP, there’s no such thing as a system account; the only users are people.
