There are lots of possible causes, but some of the more likely are:
- GoDaddy – Their shared hosting servers can be VERY slow. I would not recommend their web hosting after my own bad experiences with them.
- Plugins – Some can cause major slowdowns. Try temporarily disabling all plugins and see if your site speeds up. If it does, then a plugin is at fault.
- Add-ons, third-party widgets, stats, counters, etc. – Anything that gets its data from a third party server can slow your site’s loading if that server is slow.

It’s not the plugins because it was like this when there were none. It’s very possible it could be GoDaddy, which is a shame because switching hosting providers is a painful process.
