I been getting about 3-5 of these errors in my error log from different e-mail addresses. Fortunately I didn’t setup my lists properly yet, so I didn’t have a bunch of bogus e-mails on them yet.
[2017-09-14 01:52:33] ERROR: Form 469 > MailChimp API error: 400 Bad Request. ****@ya***.com has signed up to a lot of lists very recently; we’re not allowing more signups for now

But I haven’t even officially told anyone my website yet. Why would someone want to get on my e-mail list? Is there an exploit or way to get my e-mail address list to spam with or something? Just curious because if this is the case I will make it so you have to buy something in order to sign up if this is the case. But I would hate to remove this feature if it isn’t.

    Hi,

Those are indeed spam-bot sign-ups, that are automatically blocked by MailChimp.com, so they won’t be added to your list.

They can’t steal your contacts or anything like that, they are just “stupid” bots trying to collect YOUR email address or trying to send you some message via the site.

    It’s nothing to worry about.

    Hope that helps!

    Kind regards,

Yes it does! I am surprised I couldn’t find anyone saying this from the search in the forum I did. This makes sense. Just seemed odd that they would try to sign up for the list unless they were using the contact form to send a message and automatically checked the box to be added to the list.

Anyway this makes sense thanks for your help!
