We have disabled the plugin but some pages are still password protected. We then deleted the plugin, reinstalled it, turned off the protector screen with your checkbox manually. But still the page is protected. We then cleared caches in W3 Total cache and ended up disabling it entirely, but still we have protected pages.

Can you suggest what we should do next? The Url submitted with this is one of our product pages which is still protected (even though Hide My Site is now deleted).

    Thanks

    Hi Webinclusion1,

When I checked your site just now, it seems the problem has already cleared up for you. But just as an FYI for you and in case other users encounter this in the future, here is a summary of the situation and what you can do about it…

This issue is the result of page caching.

If you are using wpengine (or a different host that auto-caches) you can try reaching out and ask if they can clear your cache for you.

Also if you are using a caching plugin, try clearing the site cache via the plugin settings page.

Some times it takes a few hours after users take the above steps to notice the change. In this case, you should also clear your browser cache (though clearing your browser cache would only be effective after taking the above steps)

    Best,
    Justin
