Hi @mariuszebo – Is this the page on PayPal’s site? Or after you complete a donation? Did you enter your PayPal email address into the gateway settings?
I’m a bit confused on the page you’re talking about. On install, the plugin creates the necessary pages for you so you shouldn’t have to create anything. If you can provide further info or have a link to your site I can take a look.

It’s the page on my own website. But I think I know what happened… I used the Donate page the Give plugin generated to put my donate form on… So I accidentally destroyed whatever code Give put there. How do I get that page back? Delete the plugin and its generated pages and reinstall?

You shouldn’t have to do that. Go to Donations > Forms and grab the shortcode for the donation form you’d like to display and then create a new Page called “Donate” and paste the shortcode on there. You can embed your donation forms on any page or post as well as in sidebars with the widget. You just need to ensure you have create one or more donation forms.
And leave the original donate page blank once the form has been removed there? Also the permalink of the original Donate page (that I messed up) is not the same as the link displayed in the 404 error…

You probably want to delete any blank pages that you’re not using.
Ok, So I take the donate shortcode out of the donate page that Give created, create a new Donate page manually using the pages, add new menu, put the shortcode there and then delete the originial (now blank) donate page that Give created upon installation and I ruined by putting my shortcode there?
Sorry to double check but it’s a bit confusing for me now…

I’m a bit confused by what you’re saying. By default, Give doesn’t create any donation pages on install. Only pages for donation success, donation history, and donation failed. When you create a donation form, that uses a Give’s CPT single post and you can access the donation form on that page. However, you can also embed it on your site with the shortcode. Thanks for sticking with this. Upon checking in closer detail I did make the Donate page myself… But that means I’m back at square one. I have alle the necessary pages, the shortcode is embedded on a page, but when trying to check out, the mydomain/donate page cannot be found… It’s this page it’s looking for:

Try refreshing your WP permalinks under Settings > Permalinks. Other than that, I’m out of ideas.
Quick and maybe silly question, but is everything set up right?
I installed the plugin and made the form. That’s it. Nothing else.
Is that enough or did I miss something(s) to make it work?

Other question before I refresh my permalinks. If I do that, can I change from one type to another? I’ve seen that now, my site has a custom structure, but I would like to change that to day and name. Can I do that and then save changes without breaking my site?

@mariuszebo – It should be safe to change permalinks. I haven’t seen your site setup so I’m not giving you a 100% it won’t break anything answer.

I refreshed the permalinks I didn’t update the structure to the date and name, just kept it at “custom”. But the error remains. The form still tries to find this page:https://mydomain.eu/donate/?payment-mode=paypal
Eventhough the structure of my pages is nothing like that. Is it safe to uninstall the plugin and reinstall it? Because I think, somehow the plugin doesn’t know what the structure of my pages looks like… I started building the site using the date and name structure and installed Give, but then I changed hosts and the new host migrated my site to their servers. I just kept building, and didn’t check the permalink structure. But for some reason they changed it to custom. I don’t think the plugin took that change very wel…

I uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin. I put the previously generated Donation success, failure ans history pages in the trash, but upon reinstalling, the plugin did not regenerate these pages. Also my previously published form was still in it’s list. So it did not remove everything. Also, again, the form returned the same error…
