    Hi,

I have just created a website, and it went live last Friday.

I am using WP4.8, Hueman Theme and WP Fastest Cache on the site. When I create new posts to the site, then it does not update automatically, each time I have to do a hard refresh or view it in a private browser in order to see the changes.

I downloaded this plugin thinking that it would fix this, but unfortunaetly it doesnt. The tickboxes that are checked within the plugin settings are as follows:

    Cache System: Enable
New Post: Clear cache files when a post or page is published
Update Post: Clear cache files when a post or page is updated
Minify HTML: You can decrease the size of page
Minify Css: You can decrease the size of css files
Combine Css: Reduce HTTP requests through combined css files
Combine Js: Reduce HTTP requests through combined js files (header)
Gzip: Reduce the size of files sent from your server
Browser Caching: Reduce page load times for repeat visitors

I have been able to get a slight work around. After I make any changes to the site, then I go into this plugin and click on Delete Cache in the blue box. But, other people are updating the site, and they are not as tech savvy so I don’t really want them to be able to go into this section to delete cache. Would anyone be able to offer any help here at all?

    Thanks

Probably you are using google chrome. You should disable “browser caching” option.

Thanks for reply.. I am actually using Firefox.

But, even if I add a post on the computer and then view on my phone the post will not show when I view the site. I need to go to the site and then hard refresh before I can see it.

what does “hard refresh” mean? shift+f5?

    (@mbell25b)

Yes. Or else just clicking the Refresh icon on the browser.

For example: If I have visited the website today on my phone, and then login and add a new post (doing this on my computer). If I then go back on my phone, go to google and then go back to my site, the new post will not be there.

But, if I go back to the site, and click on the refresh icon, then the post will appear. Does that make it more clear?

Browser caching causes this issue. You need to disable browser caching.

    Great.

Would this not just affect it for me but?

I mean, if someone else goes to view the site then they would still be having the same problems? Just curious, I am guessing this is a problem with WP just..

I see the cache control header in the response, if I changed this to no-store would this help the problem?

    Thanks for your help!

hmm may be. Actually I did not test it before.

So, is there a way to fix my initial problem?

Disabling browser caching will only affect me.

    (@emrevona)

why do you think that it affects only you?

    Thread Starter mbell25b

    (@mbell25b)

As you said I need to disable browser caching, I was under the impression that I did that in my browser? Therefore it would only affect me, when I view it in that particular browser?

Am I misunderstanding you somewhere? Do I disable browser caching within the plugin?

    Thread Starter mbell25b

    (@mbell25b)

Apologies, I now see the browser caching option within the plugin. I guess I will untick that.

    Thanks for your help!!

yes, on the settings page of WPFC πŸ™‚ you are welcome.

    Wow.

I changed this and now the site gives a 500 response.

Even in the admin section of the site, the styling is not how it used to be.

This previously happened when I made changes in the settings, and I had to delete the etchosts file, and then undo all the changes…

you disabled “Browser Caching” via the WPFC settings page and you started to get Internal Server Error (500), right?

    Correct.
