• This editor is not for anyone who is not a blogger. And even if you are a blogger do you want to make all your posts using blocks?

The only way I can see this editor being a viable option is to expand the classic text option. Which would include adding back the capability of inserting media and links.

Ideally the classic text option would be have all the functionality of current editor. And why not? This would provide the best of both worlds.

The block editor could be used for building feature rich pages such as a home page. While the text option would be best for a simple post or page.

Expanding the classic text option would turn around my opinion.

The classic editor limits a lot of what can be done, which is why this new approach is being investigated. Is it complete? No, as you rightly say the experience is a little less than currently. One thing worth noting is you will be able to ‘turn off’ in some way the experience, to revert. How or what form that will take isn’t set yet.

I would encourage you to check out if you have not, the latest version. Gutenberg has been progressing at an incredible speed with amazing people contributing.
