Hi there, well, its a big jump, personally I would upgrade incrementally if possible, through several versions, and also manually of course. I certainly wish you luck, its well worth the effort.

Thanks for your reply. I did install 2.7 with xampp on a windows server 2003 box, running in hyper-V. I then restore a database backup from my 2.0.5 wordpress installation. That worked.
Anyone else with ideas?
using export and import function would be better, i guess

I exported the database and tried importing it through phpmyadmin on a new webhost with 2.7 installed. It did not recognize any of the tables, but acted like a new install and wrote new ones.
I can not find a way to export the posts from 2.0.5 because most of the online resources point to plugins that aren’t there anymore.
Any suggestions as the best way to proceed?
