• I don’t want to use multisite but have different user bases on one wordpress install. Similar to Yammer.com, I would like to have different user networks based on their email extension. How would this be possible?

Operationally speaking, what does a “user network” mean? How does it change the behavior of your site?

So, I want users with @domainname.com to see each other, I want users with @hey.com to see each other, but I don’t want @domainname.com users to see people with @hey.com email addresses and vice versa. So people with the same email domain become the same network. Just like Yammer does.

What would be the best approach? I know it exists and people have integrated such an approach but I don’t know how. It would be a waste to create a multisite because the sites will be exactly the same..

Are you using buddypress or something similar? If so, their support forums might be the best place to ask this.

No despite I compared it with the way Yammer works I don’t necessarily need Buddypress.. It’s about the fact that user groups can only see themselves and not others..
