HI Mike,
Most often it will not show the business reviews if that business is not configured correctly. Typically it doesn’t have a physical address or hasn’t indicated that it serves customers at that physical location — both of which are requirements from Google to display reviews over their API.
You can read more details about that here:
https://wordimpress.com/documentation/google-places-reviews/google-places-reviews-101/
Can you provide me a link to a business on Google Maps where it’s not displaying right for you?
Regarding HTTPS, we encourage EVERY website to have HTTPS, so you’ll be in great shape switching to HTTPS with our plugin — no problems.
Also, just a heads up that we are in the middle of totally revamping how we do Business Reviews as a whole. If you’re interested in learning more about what we’ve got up our sleeves and maybe doing some beta testing for us, feel free to sign-up here: https://wordimpress.com/wp-business-reviews-beta-sign/
Hi Matt

And our website: Your plugin is used on the homepage.

I’ve checked on Google’s autocomplete search and our profile comes up fine there.
That’s great news re. my https query. Thank you for that!
And cheers for the heads up. I’m more than happy to sign up and learn more about what you guys are about.
All the best,
Mike
HI Mike,
I had no trouble getting your business to display reviews at all. You can see it here live on our demo site (the second widget):
http://googleplacesreviews.wordimpress.com/sidebar-widget/
I see your widget on your site saying there’s no reviews and it actually links to the right business on Google Maps as well. So I’d suggest just going into your widget and open the “Advanced Options” tab and click on “Clear Cache”. If that doesn’t work, I’d suggest creating a new API key and trying that.
Hi Matt,
Thanks for this. It seems setting cache data to ‘none’ inside the widget makes it work again. I’ve tried turning the cache on and off a few times and the results are consistent.
Not sure what this means. A conflict at my end, maybe?
I’m a little worried about putting in too many api requests with the caching off. But, I’m also happy that it’s working again and appreciate that there’s only so much you can say or do to help.
Best regards, Mike
You definitely don’t want the cache off. Hitting the “Clear Cache” button should have the same results as setting the option to “None”, but you then keep the new cached results for whatever period you designate.
If you’re seeing mixed results like that it’s possible other caching plugins or server caching is at play as well. Make sure you clear those as well.
