Clean-up-form function

I have a form in a modal box and was wondering if there is a way to clean-up the form when I close the modal box. Now the text entered in the fields (prior to submit), the validation errors or the thanks you field is shown when I reopen the modal box.
As a workaround I now refreshes the page when closing the modal, but that’s not an elegant way to do it, so hopefully one of you have a better solution. Thanks 🙂
