    Hi,

When I noticed that my website wasn’t displaying any thumbnails and even some of my media, it took me a while to find out that this was caused by a setting I changed in the WordPress Options.
The problem was also showing in the WordPress backend because the thumbnails in the media library also didn’t show anymore. First I thought there was a problem with one of my plugins, but even with all plugins disabled and with a standard WordPress theme, the problem was still there!

After a couple of hours searching for what was causing the problem, I found that everything went back to normal after unchecking the option “Disable Code Execution for Uploads directory”.

I assume this is not the desired effect and there may be a bug somewhere. Could you please look into this. There should be no executable code in the media library; so it should be possible to check this option.

    Best regards,
    Patrick

    Hi @pc1271,

Could you please check with your hosting provider if php_flag is disabled on the host?

Unfortunately, if this was confirmed you would need to keep the “Disable Code Execution for Uploads directory” feature disabled.

    Hi,

Thx for the suggestion. I have been looking everywhere I could think of, but couldn’t find the setting of php_flag.
Any suggestion where or how I can check this or should I simply write and e-mail to my hosting company and ask them?

    Hi @pc1271,

    Sorry about the delayed response.

Indeed the best way to find out is to contact your hosting provider and ask them.

    Hi @pc1271,

Were you able to get the information from your hosting provider?

Hi, sorry for the long delay.
    I didn’t notice your e-mail before.

Anyway, I’m still waiting for their reply. I just sent them a reminder and hope they will give me an answer soon.

Ok, this time, I got instant reply from my host. Maybe they never received my initial question.

Well, they state that both php_value and php_flag are not supported on their servers and this is something they cannot change.

So, I guess this means I can’t use the “Disable Code Execution for Uploads directory” feature.

    Hi @pc1271,

Thank you for letting us know.

I’m sorry your hosting provider doesn’t allow the use of php_flag.
