    Hi,

I’ve asked my hosting provider about this problem but I thought I would ask here too.

I recently bought some hosting and wanted to host more than one installation of wordpress on it so I installed my first copy of wordpress to the root directory which worked fine. Then I went over to the second directory and installed wordpress however when I went to the site URL to activate it I found that the URL was redirected to the first WP installation I had made.

Previous to this I had some static html content ‘coming soon’ type thing on the site so I know it was working fine before I installed WP and there is no redirect rule on cpanel and Im not using any redirect plugins on my blog.

This seems like abit of a strange problem and Im not sure whats happening any tips/suggestions would be fantastic. Thanks!

  • you used the same database and didn’t change the table prefix in your 2nd install to be different than your first install

I checked through the database and found that although I was creating a new WP table with my config file my hosting provider wont allow me to create new tables within the DB.

So yeah your right it was reading from the first install and redirecting.

I solved the problem just by creating an entirely new DB for the install.

Thanks for the tip : )
