• Hi there,

I have a question, i have been using caching plugins for some time to manage cache control/htaccess commands. (W3 Total Cache)

Is there a distinct advantage to using a plugin vs just editing the htaccess myself?

I like to use as few plugins as possible to keep my sites light weight.

    Any advice is much appreciated

  • IMHO if you can solve something using .htaccess – do it. The less plugins you have – the better.

    thank you sinip,

so its safe to say there are no advantages to using caching plugins other than for the non technical user? or do they do some database caching and stuff that requires more in-depth knowledge than just htaccess
