I followed these instructions but still not getting access to the wp-admin page. my website is directing to the hostgator page but when i type in my website with the /wp-admin it is coming up as error.
I have uploaded exactly what they said to filezilla as well. any help would be great.
Thanks
you need to make the database and then enter those values (db name, user, and password) in wp-config.php after renaming it from wp-config-sample.php and then upload it.
did you do this part? the database needs to be made before you upload wordpress to your site
Thanks discojing
Yes i did do that.
Created a database in hostgator and then changed the sample and filled in my details into the area it told me too. I then uploaded that to filezilla.
when i go to http://www.twks.co.uk it takes me to the hostgator page but when i go to http://www.twks.co.uk/wp-admin it says this page cannot be found.
do you know what i could have done wrong?
ok, it is done now (was installed in the wrong path) but now having problem chaning the homepage. ie, my admin is there and i choose theme but i cannot get that theme to go to my page.
grrrr lol
Hello, I am having a similar issue.
My particular issue is I am getting an “ooPS!!! Page Not Found” stating that I have not uploaded (or incorrectly uploaded) my web site.
Thanks for any input!
Ken
Can anyone give any input on this install issue? Page not found after install.
Ken M.
“ooPS!!! Page Not Found” stating that I have not uploaded (or incorrectly uploaded) my web site.
Either you did not upload the files to the correct location successfully, or the path you typed to the files you uploaded is not correct. “Page not found”, or a 404, means the document you requested does not exist at the address/path you typed. Double check both.
[Edit] “not found after install.” Just to be clear, were you successful with the install process? Or does this occur while attempting to install?
The install process was successful. I have no idea in reference to the file location is or suppose to be. MergeDomains information leads me to believe that their hosting service does not require me to direct the files to a “Home” or “Start” directory. However, they said that I have to verify that the files are uploaded to the appropriate directory (in which I have no idea how to do).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
