    Hi,

When I use a widget, everything looks fine, but when I insert a short code, nothing happens and the shortcake appears as text.
I used the following short code: [ ultimate-faqs include_category=’bowling’ ], where ‘bowling’ is a FAQ category.

Any idea what goes wrong here?

  • Hi PC1271,

The shortcodes are actually only meant for use in the main WordPress pages.

To show a category within the “UFAQ FAQ Category List” widget, you just need to enter the category slug in the “FAQ Category List” text box (see screenshot below)

    cat-list

If you’re not sure what the category slug is, you can find it by going to the Categories tab and looking in the “Slug” column in the table on the right side.

Thx, but this is not what I expected after watching your tutorial about shortcodes.
I guess I will look for another FAQ plugin which better suits my needs.

    Hello,

We are sorry that you had trouble using our plugin. We originally thought that you were trying to use the shortcode in the widget which is why we answered the way we did. To understand your question better, could you please tell where you are trying to insert the shortcode?

For this to work correctly, please make sure that there is no space after the opening and before the closing square brackets:

    [ultimate-faqs include_category='bowling']

If there is a space you will only see the shortcode as a plain text. Hope this helps!

    Hi,

Even without the spaces, it’s just not working: nothing shows up on the page. It’s true that the shortcode becomes visible when I have the spaces in the shortcode.

Too bad. Maybe there’s an incompatibility with my theme or another plugin is interfering? Who knows.
Everything else is working though. Even shortcodes used by another FAQ plugin. So, I may better use the one that is working for me.
