Custom Icons acting weird

    This is a great plugin, and I’m pretty happy with it (gave it a five star review) except for one thing…

    So, I have two custom icons, one for tumblr, and one for my university’s engagement page for the student organization the site is for.

    The icons show up, but the uni link keeps getting moved to the tumblr icon, and then there is no link attached to the uni icon.

    I’ve tried to fix this multiple times and am not sure what else to do.

    Are we limited to one custom icon if we’re using the free version? Or is this just a bug?

    Hi, there is no limit of custom icons in the free version. Usually it’s working fine, I assume there must be some conflict (theme or with other plugins) on your site. You can play around (e.g. by de-activating other plugins), or we can also look into your specific case as part of our premium plugin: https://www.ultimatelysocial.com/usm-premium/

    This is not resolved. IF you go to psichiuh’s site, the icons still do not work. This plugin is advertised as being free customized icons. I guess they need to say that they are not guaranteed to work, right?
    I have the same issue (custom icons not linking properly to URL) and went to their tech support. I was told that if I buy the premium plugin, they will be happy to fix my problem.
    Well, no, I am not going to buy the plugin until you fix my problem.

    Thanks @lfisher04 – usually it does work. Otherwise there would be many more complaints.

    If it does not work, then there is an issue on the theme. The solution for this depends very much on the theme, and a developer needs to look at it. We checked if there are any general guidelines we can give to resolve this issue (to state them in our FAQ), but this doesn’t seem to be possible.

    As it’s an issue with the theme: Have you tried asking your theme creator about this already? Maybe he/she can help.

    Your site must be having problems with the theme as well. Because your Google icon is doing the same thing. Sorry.

    You mean on http://www.ultimatelysocial.com? What’s not working exactly, for me it’s working fine. It’s also not an uploaded custom icon. In case you mean the tooltip: that is required (to show both the Google +1 option as well as the Google+ share option).

    Yes, I am looking at your social media icons on the left side. And when I try to click on your facebook icon, it does nothing and for the Google icon it says at the bottom of the screen: javascript:void(0);

    Aha, got you. Actually it is meant to be that way: if you’ve given an icon several functions, then it shows the tooltip where the user has to choose what he wants to do. If you want that click on the icon takes an immediate action, then only give it a visit-us-functionality. Then no tooltip is displayed and users get directly taken to your Facebook page for example.

    I have only given mine one action, to go to a URL. And it gives me the javascript error and will not do anything.

    Then it is most likely an issue with your theme.

    FYI: I just downloaded the Ultimate Social Media PLUS and I am able to connect the URLs to the custom icons. But it will not work in the Ultimate Social Media Icons plugin.
    So, this is not a theme problem, which I have read across many of the comments posted on your site.
