    Dear supporters,

I managed to restore a backup of my website after a wordpress update messed up my css lay-out. I want to update wordpress again but how can I do this without facing the same problem again?

  • How were you editing your CSS? If you edited the theme’s files directly. those changes get lost whenever the theme is updated. Instead, WordPress 4.7 includes a built-in custom CSS editor at Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS, or you could use a custom CSS plugin or a child theme.

    Hi stephen

Is it possible to copy the whole css file update wordpress and then past everything back? (i use the css in the dashboard appearance area)

Yes, but if you’re making substantial changes, you’re probably better off making a child theme. The built-in custom CSS editor is better for minor changes.
