Categories, Subcategories and Posts – In Harmony!

Hiyas,

I am pretty new to all this and learning fast! I have searched high and low for a plugin to do what I want… but alas I havent found anything yet. So if anyone knows of something or can suggest some alternatives, I’d be mega grateful!

I ideally want a page with top level ‘parent’ categories on it, which links through to a page that contains the subcategories of that particular parent, along with a list of any posts simply in the ‘root’ of the particular parent category.

I am currently thinking of generating the original ‘parent’ page manually, then linking through to a page upon which holds a plugin or something to display the subcategories and posts… but cant find something that will display just the subcategories as link and posts of that parent (and not the subcategories as well) if they are present.

I hope this makes sense?
