• I’m looking to integrate a forum on my WordPress powered website. I want it to retain as much of the look and feel (header, menu, footer etc.) of my website as possible.

I’d be interested in using either PHPbb or SMF, whichever works better.

I’ve seen some older posts regarding this, but have yet to find one that is satisfactory.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • bbpress will integrate users and so on with wordpress
all others are a HUGE pain

as for look and feel bbpress has several themes now but with any forum you use you will need to be able to change css, etc. for exact match

    True for bbPress 0.9x + wp2.5x

There are some teething issue with the alhpa version for some folks (like me)

    Believe me I researched SMF/phpbb etc…

I don’t like the look and feel of bbpress, phpBB and SMF are both much nicer and better forums. How would I go about changing the CSS in order to integrate the header and footer of my WordPress site into the forums?

You’d have to ask about integration on those forums, we only support WordPress here.

As for WordPress, you can style your theme however you like, CSS included.

I love the look and feel of bbPress. It’s lite and clean. Of course, you can make bbPress heavy on the server by wrapping it with WP but use the tool you need for the job. Start searching on the other software’s fora for integration help.

I wouldn’t be surprised if your research brings you to bbPress at this time.

I really would love a Burning Board forum integration.

Simple Press Forum is very nice and integrates well.
