Modifying Search Form

Good afternoon! I love this plugin and have made a number of modifications so far. What I can’t figure out is how to modify some aspects of the search form. To be specific, I’d like to do the following:

1. Put the two main search fields (“Search” and “Geolocation Search”, as described in the Settings > Formatting > Search Form section) next to each other (instead of one being directly above the other).

2. Changing the search button on the right-hand side of the search form (e.g., making it a different color, a different button, a text link/button vs. a picture button, etc.).

Basically, it would be nice if the search form could look something like this (http://i.imgur.com/34nrPqv.png) – edited in Photoshop to give you a sense of what I’d like the final search form to look like with those two modifications applied.
