• Hi all,

I use the cforms plugin and while using the automatic update option within wordpress something went wrong. I can now no longer access the site and get the following error

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/dss/public_html/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 1078

    Any advice would be great

    Cheers

    Mark

  • I’ve never much liked the notion of automatic plugin updates, simply because they lead you to believe it’s a one click action.
After running into a similar issue, which ultimately forced me to reinstall WP, I stopped using automatic updates altogether. Imho it’s completely buggy and not well thought through.
Try to remove all plugin files and FTP from scratch…hope this helps!

cforms should never be updated automatically – use the slow and safe way!
Backup database (with DBMananager), keep a copy of the outdated cforms version (just download it – its nice, you know it works), deactivate – upload – reactivate – done.
But – read the upgrade notes about keeping settings in its own plugins/cforms-custom folder. Further tips in the cforms forum.
