Hi, I have my catalog set up with categories and subcategories for each product. The main catalog page shows my categories and I thought that once I would choose a category it would then show all the subcategories but instead shows all the products that are in all the subcategories for that category.

I’ve looked at the settings and can’t figure what I’m doing wrong. Here’s a link to the catalog page although I don’t think you can tell anything from that:

What settings should I be changing?

  • Hi Waxy,

    1) Go to Options -> Basic and scroll down to “Catalog Overview Mode” and make sure it’s set to “Categories and Sub-Categories”

    2) What shortcode are you using on your product catalog page?

It’s set correctly in options. The shortcode is: [product-catalogue id=’33’]

I just went to your catalog page, clicked on the “Tanks” category and it brought me to another overview page showing all the sub-categories inside the Tanks category. I then clicked on “Aspire Tanks” and it brought me to a catalog page. So, it seems as though it’s working as it should be.

You say your shortcode is just [product-catalogue id=’33’]. How come the sidebar isn’t showing in your catalog then? Are you hiding it with CSS, or are you actually using the sidebar attribute in the shortcode? If you display your sidebar, then you’ll be able to see that it is indeed correctly selecting the categories.

ok weird. I didn’t change anything but you are right the subcategories are displaying correctly. Must have been something I did. Yes I’m hiding the sidebar with CSS because I didn’t like the way it looked. Sorry for wasting your time!
