    Hello!

I’ve poked around before deciding on a theme, making tests in Webcomic to see how it would display. I uploaded a test just fine, adding the image through the “Add Media” button, and it displays properly.

I’m now using the Parallax theme by Cyberchimps and clicking the Add Media button takes me to the library, but anything I add gets added to the POST, not to the comic media field.

Is this a WordPress version issue? Is it a theme issue? Browser? I tried Safari with the same result. Does anyone know a way around that?

Interesting… the theme really shouldn’t affect that. Are you uploading new images for your Webcomic posts, or selecting existing ones from the Library?

I have tried both, and neither worked.

I also tried to downgrade from WordPress 4.7.2 to 4.6, but it changed nothing. I tried switching themes, still the same issue :/

Update after poking at it some more:

    – A thumbnail-size, cropped image of the comics gets added properly to the post as comic media, but still not the full-sized file
    – The image that was added to the first, working comic I added will not be added properly if I try it on a new post

Was there a size limitation that I’m not aware of?

There are no size limitations (besides whatever WordPress itself may not accept). I tried Parallax on my dev box and everything seems to work… a few things to check:

    – Adding an already-uploaded image requires you to go to the Media library page and assign the image to a Webcomic post (using the Attach link in the Uploaded to column).
    – You shouldn’t have to insert images after uploading them to a Webcomic post; as long as they’re new images, Webcomic should recognize and attach them properly. Just click the X to dismiss the media popup.
    – Unless you’ve modded the theme to work with Webcomic make sure Integrate is turned on on the Webcomic > Settings page.

Beyond that, I might have to check it out directly myself. If you’d like, setup an admin account for me on your site (using the email address help at mgsisk.com) and I can try to poke around myself to see what’s up.

Uploading and clicking X works, but not selecting from the library. So I will have to make a new upload to embed it every time?

Integrate has been on the whole time.

I reread the instructions that I read back when I did my first tests, so that part’s fine after all, I’m just scatter-brained.

In Webcomic Generator, it only shows me a limited number of the files from my library, excluding the files I’m having trouble with. The ones I see have nothing in common – image or file size, colour profile, filetype – so it doesn’t seem likely that I can use that function. I can make do without since I’m now able to add directly to my webcomic posts, but if there’s a way to work that out – even to just work out what makes them agreeable – I’d take it.

    EDIT: Lemme guess, unattached files?

Well, there are currently two ways to attach media to a Webcomic 4 post:

    – Upload a new image from the media manager. This is the only method that works from the Add/Edit Webcomic page.
    – If your image has already been uploaded, you can create the post as you normally would (without uploading anything), then go to the Media Library (the actual admin page in the sidebar) and attach the image to the Webcomic post from there (you may have to switch to the more standard table view to see the “Uploaded to” column).

The Webcomic Generator should only exclude images that are already attached to a Webcomic post. I’d double check and see if WordPress somehow attached a few of those files to an existing post using the Media Library admin page (the “Upload to” column should let you know).

If you want to upload your images first and then do the Webcomic Generator make sure you upload them through the Media Library admin page. This should prevent them from being “attached” to an existing post, so Webcomic should include them in the unattached media list the Webcomic Generator displays.

Got it! Thank you very much for your time!
