Charset Reset

    Hola.

    I’ll admit. I did something very noobish just now. Somehow I managed to change the charset to something that doesn’t exist, and now the screen is filled with a mix of chinese characters and odd icons.

    Is there a way to reset the charset? I’d hate to reinstall WP for the fifth time this month >.<

    Usually, reinstalling never solves anything – unless you delete the existing content.

    Can’t you just change it back, exactly as you messed up?
    admin > Settings > Reading

    The admin panel is covered with this odd charset as well. In other words – there’s nothing BUT text. Design is all gone.

    Then you messed with more things than just the encoding. On the other hand, you don’t need “design” to see the “Encoding for pages and feeds” field and change it.

    If all else fails: go to the database and change it in the wp_options table.

    I managed to reset it.

    By the way, is there a list of reccomended charlists for WordPress around here? I kinda don’t want to mess up again.
