    Hi,

Apparently, this issue is similar to this one, posted a few hours before: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/image-is-ill-formed-on-classic-desktop-browsers/

Please let me know if the answer helps or not.

Hmm, I have already disabled the current favicon. Should I delete the file from my root directory…?

    Well, it depends :-/

Normally, disabling the icon from your WordPress dashboard should remove the file. Else, it is not really disabled, as some browsers such as Internet Explorer looks for /favicon.ico by default.

    Two possibilities:

    • You are comfortable with WordPress and site administration: please, remove the extra favicon.ico at the root of your web site (ie. https://www.******.com.au/favicon.ico won’t work anymore). It has nothing to do here once you disabled it from WP dashboard.
    • Else, leave this alone. The favicon you generated with RealFaviconGenerator (ie. the most recent, ie. the one you want) is explicitly declared in your pages, so browsers will pick this one, not the old one. So this issue is harmless.

Oh, and if you still see the old favicon in your browser, this is probably due to a caching issue. Big web development classic. Don’t mind it and just use another browser (one you normally don’t use) to visit your site and check which favicon is displayed.
