• I’m new to WP Supoer Cache and caching in general. I have it installed on two different websites and I’m getting diffeernt “recommendations” when testing with gtmetrix.com. The settings are the same on both sites as far as I can tell. Both sites are under one account on the same hosting service.

Site 1 is a new site with virtually not content and just the caching plugin. When I run a speed test it measures fast (no surprise there). The top recommendation is “leverage browser caching and it gets A grades for everything.

The other site is “real” with quite a few pages, posts and plugins. But it shows some poor grades for this category: Leverage browser caching, SERVER

Can someone help me understand what the browser caching recommendation is about and more importantly, what do do about it? Why would browser caching show up as an issue on one site and not the other given both have the plugin? I assume the SERVER part has something to do with it but why does one site have that issue and not the other–does the plugin not addressing all the caching opportunities?

    Thanks,
    Steve

When I looked further at the test results there is a report about the browser caching “Leverage browser caching for the following cacheable resources”. Then there’s a long list of css and js files and each says “(expiration not specified)”. I don’t know what that means. In the plugins “Expiry Time & Garbage Collection” the timing settings are selected and that’s all that I can think of to do.
