Modifying the default theme is not a good idea for a beginner.
You may find other themes much easier to tweak.

What are the themes that will show the options button and let you edit them? I have downloaded 5 and you can’t change the headers. Do I have to make my own?
All I want is to change the image at the top of the default page. I have looked at and loaded 6 themes and none are any easier to change that I can see. I have my image there but it just shows behind the old image. How do I make the old one just go away.
