the “pinkish” image you speak of is a flower… it’s cut off on purpose… it’s not going to be the final image used there, i had a pretty yellow one, i was just playing around last night with different images there…
The screen shot you showed me shows the flower over the top of the header, which is how i wanted it… other than that, the grey boxes that extend out, are due to the Title Images plug in i am using… currently, the plugin uses a set width for ALL headers but the next version will not do this…. so the boxes won’t be there at all… they’ll be dynamic width and transparent background.
If you had IE, you would see the issue with the flower, and also all the other issues with IE that i needed help with…
thanks though for replying.

*Ok, my site is fine in Firefox but there are a couple issues in IE yet go figure… http://www.osterbrink.org/blog/ *
Hmmm, I not so sure your site is fine in Firefox, either. At 1024 it’s reasonable. At 800, the flower is on top of the header, and the menu is on top of the flower. The problem is that you are using absolute positioning. That’s just not going to work the way you intend cross-browser, or within different screen resolutions on any given browser.
Difficult pill to swallow, but in the long run you might be better switching to a structured, and stable layout, such as the Gemini:

Ahreno, if you can work this out, fine. If, on the other hand, it’s a bit overwhelming, email me and we’ll work it out together…

whoever’s template i used to start my site must have misspelled the word wrap… i never typed that in, i started off a template…. 🙂

Spelling has nothing to do with why your layout fails.

And if that’s not enough, you might tell the spelling expert to correct the 59 errors on his file.
um… it’s SUPPOSED to be “rap”. That’s what’s in the templates. That’s what the index.php file uses.

Here’s the deal, i personally like the way the flower goes over the header… Or at least I did… That flower is not going to be the final image used… it hangs down too low and covers up the “where’s ahren” link of the first post… which isn’t acceptable for me. But i did like how it sat on top of the header… and i do like how it hanges over into the post (as long as I can find a picture of mine i like enough that won’t interfere with the links…)
To tell you the truth, i’m not so found of the whole layout of the template i started with… I chose it because it was the only pure CSS one i found. There are a lot of things i’m not too pleased with but I’m more than likely going to have to stick to it so i don’t have to do the whole thing over again. Especially the index page… I have it down to the only css error’s i get are from how i have the UL’s setup…
I would definately prefer to get this site working with the format i have now, just because all the time i’ve put into it….
Wildthing, i sent you an email with my contact info…

Given that you start with a solid foundation, anything (well, almost anything) is possible.
