Variables in posts

Hi.

Working on a light e-commerce site. There’s a products listing page, the individual product pages and purchase section on each product page – all of which will list the product’s price. The plan is to use custom fields and template hooks to display most of these.

My question is: What if the content author would like to include the price in the body of the post? Is there a way to insert it as a variable directly into a post so that it will auto-update when the custom field’s value updates?

I’m guessing there’s a plugin for this but damn if I could find it.
