• Someone has asked me, a WordPress newbie, to help them with their website. It’s already setup in WordPress, using the Twenty Sixteen theme, with static page as the front page to the site. The blog has no entries, but they’d like me to setup, but pointing to a subdomain like http://example.mainsite.com

Is there a way to get WordPress to host the blog at the sub-domain while keeping the main site url?

If we were starting from scratch, I’d host in the subdomain, but the site is already setup and live, so no sure how to make just the blog part map to a subdomain.

    Thanks for any help!

  • You need to ask your web host about how to install WordPress in a folder of the site root, then point a created sub-domain to that folder using the web host tools and/or support. While most web host accounts allow subs, some are rather limited. Ask your web host or review their support documentation.
