That’s odd – that message is only part of the previous version, and does not exist in 2.0.1. Can you link a screenshot? It doesn’t seem to be a general problem – 15,000 people have successfully updated thus far (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-optimize/stats/).
Does it happen every time? What WP version do you have?
You’ll definitely be able to avoid it via updating via FTP.
David
Hi, just tried to update to 2.0.1 but the “plugin can’t be updated because it triggered a fatal error : functions file is missing”. Plugin was deactivated at http://reggaeton.com/web/

Hi,
Try de-activating the plugin before updating it. Then re-activate after updating.
David
Same here.
Cant reactivate after the last update. “functions file is missing”
@adferger1 – the words “functions file is missing” aren’t in the latest update, only in the previous version. So, it sounds like WordPress malfunctioned when downloading the new version and replacing the old version with it. I’d recommend de-installing and re-installing.
David
I updated to the latest version, seemingly, without a hitch, but when i click the small circle at the top left side of the WordPress Admin page,I get…”Functions File is missing!”
I deactivated and deleted the plugin, but the error message still appeared.
I have reinstalled the plugin, but nothing had changed…its still showing:(
@rickuk – The words “functions file is missing” aren’t in the latest update, only in the previous version. So, somewhere, you still have the previous version installed.
Thanks David…I deleted the plugin again, and then accessed things via ftp and just refreshed the folder view which got rid of it.
All is ok now:)
