    Hi,

I am using WordPress locally and the thumbnail feature isn’t working. But I wonder if I need to host it remotely first (uploading it now so will let you know).

Also, my client has requested little icons of books for some of the documents – is it possible to use my own icon?

I feel like this will be straightforward but can’t see a way to do it.

    Thanks.

    Hi Matthew,

Hosting locally should be fine unless you are trying to use Thumber.co, which relies on a public URL.

If you go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Document Gallery, at the bottom of that page there is a list of thumbnail generation methods. What do you see there? My guess is that both IMagick and Ghostscript are both not available on your machine, which would make thumbnail generation impossible.

And yes, manual thumbnails are possible. You can either configure those on the attachment page for the documents you add or through the Thumbnail Management tab.
