    Hello,

I’m sorry if this is an obvious question but I’m very new to this. My wife is setting up a business and would like clients to be able to book appointments online. Initially she was planning on just using her Google Calendar to keep appointments so that when someone makes their next appointment when she is with them she can just whip out her phone and pop it in (without payment etc)

However, if she were to add this facility to her website, e.g. people being able to book and pay online when they are not with her how would she make sure she isn’t double booking herself?

    Does that make sense?

I appreciate any help or advice you can give!

    Hello mrmckee,

If your wife will be still booking appointments in gCal when meeting client in person they you will need to use Google Calendar integration in plugin.
This way – enabling integration two ways – when your wife adds booking to her gCal – it will book also on website that spot. And when client books from website it will mark that spot in your wifes gCal.

If your wife is only planning to use website calendar and add manually appointments there then there is no need to worry about double booking – plugin will handle that without any additional settings. In appointments – one service provider can book only one free slot. If for that provider slot is booked no one else can book it.

    kind regards,
    Kasia

Thank you for the reply Kasia. Is gCal the best way of being able to book using her mobile device too or would you recommend something else?

Do you have any documentation explaining how to install / setup the gCal plugin?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello mrmckee,

At the moment we don’t have integration with any other calendar so there is not much choice: or gCal or just use the site calendar (it also works on mobile devices). Both methods are simple – with site calendar you will have more clear view on free and busy slots – when in Google Cal you will be able to book appointment with bigger flexibility (however if you book appointment in gCal that is in the middle of the two free slots in website calendar, those slots will be booked).
There are pros and cons for both solutions.

Do you have any documentation explaining how to install / setup the gCal plugin?

This is not separate plugin – in Appointments+ there is tab Google Calendar where you will see “Instructions” with small blue icon “I”. When you click it you will see described whole process

    kind regards,
    Kasia
