Google map now showing venue
-
Hello
I have added the URL of the venue but when I click on the arrow on the Google map it doesn’t take me to the venue on the map…
Plus the + and – signs are not showing on the Google map.
Ideas please?!
Cheers
Geoff

This pic shows the Google map but minus any + and – sign and if you click on the cursor nothing happens …

Geoff
I should add that clicking on the +Google Map option does open Google map at the correct place!
Why does this work but the pic in the avove post does not?!
Geoff
PS have just realised my mistake in the first post ! I should have said that I have added the venue postal address not the URL
On the same website I am finding that some of venues have the Google maps with the + / – signs whereas others do not. I cannot see why this is happening!
Geoff
Hey @gcwp,
Thanks for using The Events Calendar, Iβm happy to help. In order for me to help, can you send me a link so I can see this firsthand?
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply.
Take a look at this
http://www.olgajegunova.com/concert/olga-jegunova-npl-music-society/
here the Google map does not have the + and – symbols but clicking on the +Google Map link does show the correct address …
However! Here it does!

So far I cannot see why the difference.

Shelby
where are you?!

Hi Geoff,
I was out for a bit last week, my apologies. This seems to be a styling issue, possibly a theme conflict.
1. I’d recommend first trying some of the other options under “Events<Settings<Display<Default stylesheet used for events templates.” See if one of the other settings solves your problem. (This is the easy fix.)
2. If that doesn’t help, test for conflicts to see if it is a problem with the theme or with one of your plugins.
Let me know how that goes, and we’ll work on it from there!
Cheers,
Shelby πThanks Shelby – will try and get back!

here’s an oddity!
On a different site from the one I gave the links to above changing from default template page to events solved the problem – the + and – appeared on the Google map and the map showed the right place/
On the site with the links given above it already has the events template selected !? and the + and – signs are not there on the map …

This is confusing me – on the olgajegunova.com site the events template is being used (and this is the correct template to solve the problem on my other site) but one event has the Google map with the + and – signs, whereas the other does not have them. How can one work but the other not work?
The blank theme was installed by someone before me. The person who installed it did not use a child theme so it is a bit of a mess.
At some point I plan to change to twentyseventeen or Sydney but it would be nice to sort this out first.
Can it be a conflict it one event is OK and the other is not?
Cheers
Geoff
Hey Geoff,
You’re right, this IS a super strange problem to have. It definitely does sound like a theme or plugin conflict. I recommend going through the steps here to test for a conflict (unless you’ve already confirmed that everything is fine when switching to Twenty-Sixteen, and deactivating all plugins, etc.).
Also, could you send me your system info so I can see what kind of a setup you have on this site?
Thanks,
Shelby πShelby
I’d rather not change the theme just at the moment, if possible, as this is the live site.
What do you mean by “system info”?

I thought what a coward I am being (!) so I activated the twenty-sixteen theme and straight away the + and – sign appeared on the above link where the Google map didn’t have the + and – signs!
Have gone back to the blank because there is a whole lot of css hidden on the blank theme style and other files …
Can you have any ideas at all why this can happen?
Geoff
Geoff,
This seems like it has to be a styling issue. Likely, the styles are loading from two different sources for some reason? I’d recommend first trying some of the other options under “Events>Settings>Display>Default stylesheet used for events templates.” See if one of the other settings solves your problem. (This is the easy fix.)
If that doesn’t work, you may have to hunt down all CSS in the theme (and possibly in custom CSS plugins) and consolidate it/clean it up.
Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes!
Best,
Shelby π
OK!
Cheers
Geoff
