    Revised posting:
I am trying to update my 2.0.2 installation running on my computer as local host (running “Connections” as a theme).
After replacing the files indicated in the “detailed directions”, I can reach the “Update” page and click. But the message I get back is that the upgrade is complete.
But when I log in to the site, the Dashboard still says at the bottom of the page “2.0.2”. The site still seems to “work” fine, but it seems that the upgrade has not really happened.
    Can anyone help
    Thanks!

If the dashboard says the wrong version, then you uploaded the files to the wrong place, or did not upload all the files.

The “upgrade” script doesn’t do anything but update the database. The version number comes straight from the files.

    Mmm…
I’ve checked through all the files on the drive location and can’t find any of the “must replace” files that were NOT replaced.

The files I left in place and did NOT delete were the following (as per the detailed instructions):
    — wp-config.php
    — .htaccess file
    — The wp-content folder except for the wp-content/themes/default folder, which I replaced as per instructions.

I also cleared out the browser cache in case that was an issue.
Since the site “works” even with the new files in place, do you have any suggestion what would be generating the old dashboard?
    Thanks!

    So sorry…
After chewing over your posting I double-checked and realized that I had replaced the BACKUP files but not the actual local working copy of WordPress… duh!
I replaced the correct files and fired it up…
    it worked fine.
    Thanks!
