Translations not working?

Language files are in /site/wp-content/languages/plugins but the new plugin version (3.6.8) is not getting translated (back-end and front-end). The previous version (3.5.1) used to get translated just fine, but not this one. I usually rename the previous version folder (in case I need to revert) and manually upload the new plugin, instead of using wordpress update plugin option. Maybe the translation is not working because there’s another plugin instance of different version? But I doubt this is the problem…

Nevermind, deleted the older version and now translations are working.

I have started translating strings on the official stable-version. I created the .po/.mo files, then I created a folder /languages under Memphis and uploaded the .po.mo in it… but it didnt’t work. Was that the wrong procedure?

Yes it is, if you goto:

https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/memphis-documents-library

then find the language you are translating in the list you can import you .po file this will import all your work.

Then if you want I can ask to make you an editor of that translation. Once you become an editor you will be able to approve and update translation on a global level removing the need for .po and .mo files.

Sure, I thought that contributions didn’t need to be approved… but of course they should.
Does it need to be approved for the translation to work? Because I have exported/uploaded the file but it wasn’t recognised. I tried both in Memphis and in Wp-content directories.

You are importing not exporting right? The import should work for the specific translation. You can send me the .po file and what translation you are working on and I can try to import it for you.

I have edited some strings and downloaded the .po file it generated. Is it exporting? So what I have translated is available there for anyone.

Yes translations will be available for everyone using that specific language. What language are you working on?

My translations aren’t recognised. What did I do wrong? I tried putting the .po.mo both in wp-content/languages/plugins and in /wp-content/plugins/memphis-documents-library/languages

…but I did all that, and I can edit the strings. The file I got has got my strings translated. My problem is just to show them in my site in Memphis’ page.

.po file will not work, you need to do this:
1. Goto this link and follow these instructions: https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2016/11/16/hello-polyglots-10/
2. Once you before an Italian editor import you .po file here: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/memphis-documents-library/stable/it/default?filters%5Bstatus%5D=untranslated&sort%5Bby%5D=priority&sort%5Bhow%5D=desc
3. Approve all translation once you get to about 70% complete your translation will be available to use in WordPress
4. Goto your site dashboard and choose Updates
5. Goto the buttons that says “Update Translations” and press it
6. mdocs should now be translated into Italian

Sorry Baldhie, could you please remind these people to approve my translations? Seriously, I keep translating on this and also other plugins, and all my strings are on pending. Are they too lazy to press a button?
